Your Ascendent:

YOUR MASK, REPUTATION, APPEARANCE AND SUPEREGO

Your Rising sign can give clues as to your physical appearance (what you look like), as well as details about the physical vessel you chose to come down in for this lifetime. The Planet there can reveal your mannerisms and overall disposition. As we all know, how you come across in this world is not always who you truly are as a person. How you look is not always representative of how you behave or what your deeper personality traits are.

Misunderstandings and false impressions occur constantly. The Planet here would indicate to a certain degree your reputation, but also the mask that you tend to hide behind in this lifetime. It can indicate whether others in the world know you for being witty, loving, aloof or a workaholic. It alone does not give you a complete idea of a person, but it gives you some understanding of how others perceive them.

Imagine you were to find yourself opening one door, only to find yourself facing yet another door behind it, which behind it stands yet another door; this would be accurate of how your rising sign introduces you to the world, it can never be who you fully are. It makes up just one facet of a person, but does not cover every aspect of their personality or life. It can show you what they act like, what they look like or what others know them for, what their social personality is or mask which the true self hides behind.

You could compare the Moon, Sun and Rising to Freud’s structure of the ID, Ego and Superego of a person. The Rising sign's planet operates more as the Superego of the actual person, or Soul that you are dealing with, that the body contains. When the world sees you, do they see a Warrior or a Princess? Remember to always ask if you find yourself confused about anything at all in your chart. Some individuals have a much harder time reading and deciphering it all, and find that once their chart is explained to them verbally it makes much more sense.

Your Moon Sign:

THEIR DEEPEST, MOST TRUEST SELF, THEIR UNCONSCIOUS

If you were to take an egg, and compare it to a person, you could compare the yolk to their Moon sign. The Planet in your Moon sign is your deepest self, the core of who you are, who you are behind closed doors. It shows what behaviour comes naturally to you, and can represent your overall attitude as a person, as well as what you spiritually crave from life. The shell of the egg would be your Ascendant, more linked to your appearance, mask, and what you may not even be aware you appear as. Your deeper personality and the rest of your nature, would be your Moon.

The Moon Sign though is the true character of the person, while the Sun Sign is an additional aspect to the personality, or an added but less significant layer. The ruling planet in of your Moon sign is going to reveal a lot to you about almost every aspect of their life, everything about them in terms of whether in general they are a person who likes more space, or closeness. Your Moon will show you whether you are naturally more creative, or analytical, impatient as a person or prone to anger issues. Whether you are diligent, tolerant and calm or reckless, irrational and hyper. The overall character of the person can be quickly revealed by the Moon sign.

It shows whether a person carries deep within themselves more the Mother archetype, Villain or Revel. Perhaps the Sage, Mystic or Maiden. Moon signs can provide a lot of insight into the disposition and natural tendencies of a person; their darker inclinations and also major talents. If your Moon is in Virgo for example, you are probably going to be a Mercurial; likely to exhibit an extremely observant nature and more intellectual disposition. In Leo, governed by the Sun, a more proud, generous, regal, masculine and haughty character. In Libra, the person may be more charming, sociable, friendly and diplomatic. In Moon, sensitive, nostalgic, intuitive and most likely highly maternal.

One's Moon sign is not a conscious effort, your behaviour is often rather unconscious and can correlate to the exact nature of your Moon sign. For example; a Martian would not necessarily be aware of the fact that they possess a short attention span and quite a temper, as well as an overall lack of self control and patience, along with a terrible habit of recklessness. The Moon has also been said to describe the nature of the person's Mother or maternal caregiver, that figure in childhood who raised you. The planet there could describe traits and characteristics of that figure.

Your Sun Sign:

YOUR EGO, PERSONALITY, IDENTITY AND OTHER TALENTS

Your Sun sign is going to show you other facets and shades of your personality; are you quite a stern person, or a romantic? A sporty and athletic person, or more of a cerebral? It shows the additional layers to a person; giving them more depth and richness. No Leo for example is going to be exactly identical to another Leo. Birth-charts are like snowflakes or fingerprints; no two in the world are exactly the same.

The Sun can show your already formed ego, core identity and again, reputation to some extent, not necessarily who you are behind closed doors (that would be your Moon sign). One may appear romantic and charming for example, but secretly harbour a much more sinister and dangerous nature. Your Sun sign helps to illuminate and bring to the surface your strengths, and what you’re naturally good at, or easily capable of as a person. It also shows what you have instinctual inclinations towards, or tendencies towards engaging in. It can show what you’re most known for as a person, what you bring to the table and give to this world, what others truly admire about you and deeply appreciate. Some Souls are pioneering, others more dutiful. The Planet in your Sun sign shows you whether you decided to incarnate as more of a fiery person, or a watery one; as more emotional, or practical in nature.

The House that your Sun sign falls in, will describe areas of life which are more significant to you. For example, Sun in the 4th Individuals tend to love and adore home way more than others. Your Sun sign can almost be who you think you are, or other ways people know you. For example, Saturn (Pushya) here would represent a person known for their tremendous efforts and hard work throughout life, displayed by the tenacity with which every small task in their life is done. Having your Sun in a Venus Nakshatra may make you more physically attractive as a person, but also more gluttonous and hedonistic. Remember that your Sun is not quite as important as your Moon (in my experience).
